When the Plan Changes

“When Amy met me at the hospital, she was amazing. She did everything in such a sweet way, requesting a basin for applying cold compresses, talking me through the medical jargon, and finding other ways to soothe me through my labor. Because of the nature of my labor, she didn’t have the opportunity to guide me through different positions and such, but she provided immense emotional support and was frank with me about the reality of it all. I am so grateful for the way she spoke to me about the reality of where my labor was headed and how I could prepare for that. She was amazing and I don’t think I could have gotten through it all without her steadying presence. Once our baby was born, Amy was so good about making sure we were all set and then quietly leaving us to bask in our baby. Throughout it all, Amy was wonderful and it was a true gift to have her there.”
